2004 16U National Team Member Brett Anderson Named to Olympic Roster

Congratulations to Brett Anderson on being named yesterday to the US Olympic Baseball team.  Anderson was the ace of the 2004 16U National Team that finished second in the Pan Am Championships that summer in Mexico.  He went 2-0 for Team USA that summer and struck out 24 opponents in 12 innings pitched.  Currently, Brett’s pitches at AA Midland for the Oakland A’s organization.  Best of luck to the entire team in Beijing, but particularly to Brett, the first 16U alum on our country’s Olympic team.

Congratulations to all of the members of the 18U National Team named yesterday, but particularly to the half of the roster with 16U National Team roots.  Harold Martinez (3B); Matt Purke (LHP); and Ryan Weber (RHP) were members of the 2006 Pan Am Championship team that went undefeated in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, while Andrew Aplin (OF); Colton Cain (1B/LHP); Nolan Fontanta (IF/RHP); Nick Franklin (IF/RHP); and Austin Maddox (C/RHP) were members of the 2007 World Championship team the also went undefeated in Barquisimeto.  Max Stassi (C), the mayor of Barquisimeto, played for both of those teams.

Congratulations and good luck in Canada getting another one of these.
